Workstation hardware recommendations for running FDTD simulations

#1

FDTD will be installed on an existing server computer and am not sure, it still has enough
RAM or CPU speed for simulation jobs. Is there a hardware specifications for comparison?

#2

The amount of memory (RAM) required by FDTD Solutions depends on the simulations you want to run. For many jobs, 4 or 8 GB of memory is sufficient. Alternatively, some large simulations can require 50GB or more.

Fortunately, it is easy to determine the amount of memory required. Simply setup a representative simulation, then click on the ‘Check Memory’ button. The memory report will show how much memory is required for that simulation.

Also, it is worth remembering that the Operating System and other processes may require a few additional GB of memory. If the FDTD memory report says 10GB is required, the computer should probably have at least 12GB of memory.
