Just Keep Scrolling

No page numbers or next page buttons here. To keep reading, just keep scrolling down.

As new replies or new topics arrive, they will appear automatically. There is no need to refresh the page.

Categories and Topics

By default, you are shown the Categories view. The latest discussion topics in each category are shown.

  • To view the most recent content, use the Latest view.
  • The Top view will show you the most popular discussion topics.
  • You can manage tracking of topics of interest in your preferences. Click on your profile image at the top right to set your preferences.

Searching

  • To perform a site wide search across the main lumerical website, knowledge base and KX, enter your search term in the search box in the navigation bar at the top of the site.

  • To search exclusively for KX content, click on the search button and enter your search query.

Navigation

  • Selecting a topic title will always take you to the next unread reply in the topic. To enter at the top or bottom, select the reply count or last reply date in the navigation box at the bottom of the entry instead.

  • While reading a topic, select the progress bar at the bottom right for full navigation controls. Quickly jump back to the top by selecting the topic title. Press ? at any time for a list of super-speedy keyboard shortcuts:

Replying

You will need to be logged in to the site to reply. Refer to the KX guidelines for best practices on creating posts and replies.

  • To reply to a specific entry in a topic, use the Reply button at the bottom of that post. Note, you need to be logged in to the site to reply.

  • To reply to the topic in general, and not to a specific post within the topic, use the Reply button at the very bottom of the topic.

  • If you want to take the conversation in a slightly different direction and reply to a post with a new topic, use the Reply as linked Topic button to the right of the post. Both old and new topics will be automatically linked together.

  • To insert a quote in your reply, select the text you wish to quote and click the "quote reply button that appears.

  • To notify a particular forum user about your reply, mention their name. Type @ to begin selecting a username.

  • To use standard Emoji, just type : to match by name, or use the traditional smileys ;)

Actions

There are action buttons at the bottom of each post:

To let someone know that you enjoyed and appreciated their post, use the like button. Giving and receiving likes helps to enhance your standing in the forum and open up new user privileges.

If you see a problem with someone’s post, privately let them, or our staff, know about it with the flag button. You can also share a link to a post, or bookmark it for later reference on your user page.

Notifications

When someone replies to you, quotes your post, or mentions your @username, a number will immediately appear in the forum navigation bar near the top right of the page. Use it to access your notifications.

Don’t worry about missing a reply – by default you’ll be emailed any notifications while you’re away. You can configure how the site interacts with you via email in your preferences.

Your Preferences

Manage your forum profile, configure viewing and email digest settings, and track topics of interest in your personal preferences. In those settings, you can also showcase your expertise and background to your forum colleagues.

Trust

The more you participate, the more trust you earn from the community. If you participate enough, the site will automatically reward you by enhancing your user privileges and trust level to help manage the community.
