running script from GUI versus command prompt

Hi all,

I was wondering, is running a script via the command prompt versus the GUI going to cut back significantly on simulation time? It doesn’t seem like much is going on in the GUI when a script is run with the GUI open (except for the FDE solver in MODE, which updates the eigensolver analysis window.

Running a sweep without GUI

Hi Peter,

You are correct. There should not be any effect on simulation time depending on whether you are running the script from the GUI or from the script prompt (given that you are using the same settings for the number of processes and cores used). However, if your actual simulation run time is very small then you may be able to notice the time the GUI will spend opening and closing different windows. That said this time should be so small that you will probably have to run a very tiny simulation to notice the overhead.
