#1

This is the recommended installation work-around for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES).

Notes:

  • Tested on fresh minimal installation of SLES 11 SP4 and SLES 12 SP3 with Gnome Desktop.
  • Requires root or sudo access to automatically install the dependencies for this distribution.
  • This is not a supported system.

Create a soft link for the required system libraries.

  • For SLES 11:

    cd /<install_path>/fdtd/lib
    sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 libcrypto.so.10
    sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/libssl.so.0.9.8 libssl.so.10

  • For SLES 12:

    cd /<install_path>/fdtd/lib
    sudo ln -s /lib64/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 libcrypto.so.10
    sudo ln -s /lib64/libssl.so.1.0.0 libssl.so.10

Install Lumerical FlexNet license manager

The Lumerical FlexNet license manager is only installed on one machine which will serve as the license server. Linux OS will require the Floating license model, more information about license models is found HERE.

Notes:

  1. Open Terminal

  2. cd to the location of the Lumerical FlexLM installation file and extract the files.

    tar -zxf <FlexNet_install_file.tar.gz>

  3. cd to the folder where the rpm files are created and install using zypper.

    sudo zypper install <FlexNet_install_file.rpm>

  4. Choose the option to ignore the dependency installation… [2]

  5. Select [y] to continue and complete the installation.

  6. Check the license manager dashboard if it is running using http://localhost:8095
If not accessible, restart license manager:

    sudo /etc/init.d/lumlmadmin restart

  7. If restarting fails, shutdown all vendor daemon:

    sudo /opt/lumerical/lumerical-flexlm/lmutil lmdown -all

  8. Start license manager again:

    sudo /etc/init.d/lumlmadmin start

  9. Check the dashboard using; http://localhost:8095

  10. If FlexNet is accesible but Lumerical vendor daemon fails to start;

  11. Try to manually start Lumerical vendor daemon as outlined here:
    https://kb.lumerical.com/en/index.html?installation_and_setup_manually_stop_or_start_lumeric.html

  12. If daemon cannot start and the license manager is up and running, please contact support@lumerical.com.
