How to simulate the Effect of Joule Heating on Modulator Performance

To simulate the effect of Joule heating on modulator performance, it describes as “Open the property editor for the CHARGE solver and select the “coupled” option for the “temperature dependence.” Enable the temperature monitor to capture the temperature profile of the waveguide. The monitor is set up to save the temperature data in “pin_temp.mat” file.” However, I cannot find the “coupled” option in the CHARGE solver. Would you please help me with this problem? Thank you very much!

The “coupled” option should be available on the first tab (general) of CHARGE solver properties.

If you do not see this option then it is most likely that you are using an older version of the software. The current version of DEVICE is 5.1.982. You can download it from here (customer login required): https://www.lumerical.com/downloads/customer.html.
