How to set precondition for the optimization process

#1

Hi,

Is there a good way to set some boundary conditions that the variables need to follow. For example, one parameter must be larger than the other one, etc.

Thanks!

Dear @zhechao.wang

This is a very good question, and helped me to learn more about optimization tab of Lumerical.

You can not set boundary condition or constrain in Lumerical optimization tab, as our optimization tab is very simplified. However, the good news is that you can use a third party tool, like MATLAB with much more sophisticated optimization toolbox, and Lumerical API to run this sort of optimizations. One thing to note is that you need to have optimization toolbox installed in MATLAB. Parameters will be generated by MATLAB optimization toolbox and simulation will run in Lumerical. Here is a good example to learn more how you can set this sort of optimizations:

I hope this was useful, but please do let me know if you had any follow up questions.

Thanks
