The brand new HEAT transport solver in DEVICE allows users to perform thermal simulations of their solid-state devices. Once the simulation is done, one output that is of interest is the temperature profile. Often, this temperature profile needs to be exported so that it can be used (for example) as an input in another solver (FDTD Solutions or MODE Solutions) to observe the effect of heating on optical response of the device. The temperature monitor in the HEAT solver allows users to easily capture and save this temperature data. It provides an option to save the spatial temperature profile to a .mat (format) file. Enabling this option (and setting a filename) automatically saves the temperature profile in a .mat file once the simulation finishes running. This file can then be used to import the temperature profile into (say) FDTD Solutions or MODE Solutions.
