Excitation, fluorescent and absorption of dipole?


We want to simulate a situation where EM wave travels in the nanowire and excite some surface dipole emission. Can this be achieved with Lumerical? Is FDTD alone sufficient for this simulation?
Also, is there any way to simulate absorption of dipole in Lumerical? I think Lumerical treats dipole as a source only.

Yes the Dipole Source in Lumerical is treated like a point source in the simulation region.

For your questions regarding “surface dipole emission” and “absorption of dipole”, can you further explain what they mean? A reference that shows what it means, and how other people treat these effects in an FDTD simulation will be easier for us to understand a little more of the terms (and the questions itself). Please reply this post, and we are happy to provide more comments once you clarify these terms.
