Different ways to select objects

There are various script functions for selecting objects when you need to edit their properties. Using them wisely can save you some script lines!

select and selectall: these allow you to select one object or all the objects in the current group scope.

selectpartial: this function allows you to select any object with a name that contains a given partial name; for example, if you have a bunch of elements with similar names such as “circle1”, “circle2”, etc., you can select all of them using selectpartial(“circle”).

In addition, there are two commands, shiftselect and shiftselectpartial, to extend the selection so that you don’t unselect currently selected objects.

All these commands are well documented with examples in our Knowledge Base.
