Charge solver

Dear Lumerical team
Does charge monitor can record the charge distribution in metal ?
I would like to discuss about while the excited wavelength is shorter than the semiconductor band gap (in nm.), how does the electron or hole go to metal part.InP_test.ldev (6.4 MB)

Dear @yuminwen.cop06g,

Thank you for reaching out to us. CHARGE is designed to obtain charge transport in semiconductors only. The charge distribution in metals can not be obtained.

Kind regards

Dear @kghaffari
Thank you for your time replying my question.
I wonder can we excite metal and see how the charge distribution in semiconductor?

Thanks

Dear @yuminwen.cop06g,

Metals can be used as voltage boundary conditions (contacts) to apply bias to semiconductors. The solver will then enable you to obtain the charge distribution and transport in semiconductors. Here is an example (pn depletion phase shifter).

Kind regards
