Add a new material with wavelength-dependent absorption?

material

#1

I am new to FDTD and would like to simulate some biological colors. I want to import a biological pigment as a material-- such as melanin or carotenoids, which absorb light depending on the wavelength. Is it possible to import a material with wavelength-dependent pigmentary absorption? For example,

Carotenoid

Wavelength Absorption
400 75%
420 80%
440 75%
460 65%
500 50%
420 40%
… etc

Hi @dakotamccoy

You can add new material using sampeld 3D data:
How to add new material into the material library(Optical)

However the data should be in the (n,k) vs wavelength/frequency format. You may be able to find the refractive index data from other resources such as journals.
